Due to the COVID-19 Stay at Home order and mitigation directives, Borough Hall is closed to the public. For those residents who do not have their taxes escrowed and paid by their mortgage company, property tax payments can be mailed OR placed in the secure mail box on the outside of the Borough Hall.
Some residents prefer to have the back of their bill receipted in person. That is currently not possible. It is suggested that you either:
- hand-write the date you paid and check # on the back of your bill for your records and simply detach and mail your May tax stub along with your check– you will see the check clear shortly thereafter OR
- Include a STAMPED, SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE with your entire bill and payment. The back of the bill will be receipted and mailed back to you.
NJ residents who qualify for the Homestead Benefit have become accustomed to receiving half of the Homestead credit in May and the other half in November.
In light of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the State has placed funding for Homestead Credits in reserve to meet emergency and statutorily required obligations. Therefore,
**THERE WILL BE NO HOMESTEAD CREDIT APPLIED TOWARD YOUR MAY TAXES.** The Tax Bill you have at home with amount shown on the 2020-2 stub is due in May.
The last day to pay 2nd Qtr property taxes is Monday, May 11th.
NJ SENIOR FREEZE/PROPERTY TAX REIMBURSEMENT
The deadline for filing 2019 Form PTR-1 (for first timers – see eligibility requirements here - https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/ptr/eligibility.shtml) or PTR-2 is November 2, 2020. We kindly ask that you wait until the Governor’s Stay at Home Order is lifted to have Form PTR-1A or PTR-2A (Verification of Property Taxes Paid) completed by the Tax Collector at borough hall.
I would recommend that since the deadline is November 2nd of 2020, to hold all those applications at least till June 30th. If you must, file for whatever reason then call me or email me and I will be working with you on individual basis. You will have to drop the form in Borough hall mail box with self-addressed envelope so I can send that back to you.
Please email or call if you have questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Stay safe.
